This is by no means meant to be offensive to anyone who resides in a mobile dwelling, as I live in one myself. I haven't always lived in one; as a matter of fact I once was the owner of a 100 year old, 14 room house and swore that I would never live in a trailer again. But just as you have to be careful of what you wish for...you have to be careful of what you swear about. Words have a way, like last nights chili, to come back and stick in your throat.
When we sold our property and moved from the north country to the giant state of Texas the thought was to buy a house or build. After a couple of months a piece of property caught our eye along with a repo trailer and bam we were set! Let the building begin!!! We looked at plans and settled on a wonderful one story with an open living area, room for an office, guest room and ample storage area.
On May 17 we will celebrate our 7th year of living here in our tin box...somehow the cash dwindled or maybe materials just went sky high, but the house never got built. Besides if it were built today you would have to duck occasionally as the front porch would be at the edge of the horseshoe pits.
There are times I do get aggavated living in a trailer...like the small kitchen sink...no porcelain in the bathrooms...the depreciation of the dwelling...being a tornado magnet...you know regular trailer problems. But more and more lately after being gone for any time, we come home and realize...it's paid for...the taxes are soooo much less than the house would be and it has an open living area, an office, a guest room and as long as no one opens a closet, ample storage area.
It's good to be Queen of the trailer.
